Thankful to be Home

Zach was released from the hospital yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. We enjoyed a visit from Zach's family last night. Zach hasn't been feeling very well today, but it is still good to have him home. He and Zion just finished a game of Chutes and Ladders (Zion won) and Grandma Janice is reading Moriah a book.

Surgery Update

We want to thank everyone for the prayers. Zach did well during surgery and the surgeon was able to use the most desirable method to fix Zach’s damaged ureter. Zach is in a lot of pain and would appreciate continued prayers for his body to heal. We feel so blessed that our Great God is with us.

Cancer Update

We are thankful that Zach felt pretty good last week. He had his fourth chemo treatment since surgery yesterday and drugs are causing him to be tired again. In addition to chemo, we had an appointment with the Urology Surgeon and Zach also completed his pre-surgery testing. Zach is scheduled to have surgery to repair his damaged ureter on Wednesday January 19th. There are three different ways that it can be repaired and we are praying that the easiest approach will work. The surgery is scheduled to last around 4 hours. If all goes well, a normal hospital say after this surgery is 4-7 days and then several weeks of recovering at home.

While we have many concerns related to this surgery, we are continually reminded that we have so much to be thankful for. The Cancer Redemption Project is receiving support at a level we could not have imagined possible. God also continues to remind us of the power of prayer. We were blessed to spend some time at the hospital yesterday with Ben Dailey and his daughter Lydia who is recovering from an automobile accident. She still needs to do a lot of healing, but being able to hold her and interact with her was a good reminder to me that GOD does work miracles that amaze the medical community all the time. Please keep Ben, Jackie, Caleb, and Lydia in your prayers, too. Not sure what God's plan is for Zach, but I am confident we are blessed with the most amazing Prayer Warriors.

With a lot of help from many generous people our kitchen and dining room have become a wonderful place for our family. Mike and Sarah took care of the remodeling, Jason moving the electric, Steve the additional tiles,and Mark Baker the painting (thanks to those who sent him to us).
